John Lewis Switches Biomethane – fleet will run on cow poo, and that’s great!

Sure cows produce emissions but did you know you could use their poop as fuel? John Lewis is switching their fleet over to carbon neutral cow manure in 2021. Gross? Kind of, yes. But also better for the environment which is really the important thing here. The new biomethane is a switch over from rotting vegetables.

The fuel is made from a slurry (nothing that is described as slurry is not gross) that consists of primarly cow manure but will also contain some human feces. This may be making you think yuck but using this sort of fuel will help reduce emissions caused by cows.

The conversion will save more than 49K tonnes of emissions every year. So even though the idea probably makes you wrinkle your nose, it’s great for the environment!
