More Speed for Wind Power – global winds pick up speed

Good news for wind energy enthusiasts! The planet’s wind speeds are up which means this method of energy generation could potentially be even more efficient over the next decade or so. This is likely due to climate change but at least it can be part of the solution instead of adding to the problem.

The change in wind speed may be due, in part to the heating of the planet’s surface. Still, our boon as the increased wind speed can be put to good use in pushing those massive blades to generate some energy for our cities and towns, without emissions.

This change is likely not permanent. Wind speeds had actually been on a downward trend until recently where they started to climb upwards. Still, scientists believe that the increase will last for roughly a decade before dropping off again.
