Coal’s Gone Down – so why are emissions up?

Even though coal usage has dropped, emissions are still going up. Not a ton but still, an upward trend which is exactly the opposite of what we’re looking for. The reason for this? Oil and gas are still growing industries and by the by, coal isn’t really down by that much.

An in depth dive into the numbers shows that the reduction in emission causing fuel sources isn’t even around the world and where some countries have cute back significantly, their momentum is masked by countries that are still reliant on emission causing fuel sources.

Many countries are pushing policy changes to help address this but the numbers are still too low. Resources and alternative methods of energy need to be distributed wider to help ease the passage from emission spewing energies to cleaner and more sustainable ones.
