Denmark’s Offshore Wind Farms – the country has big plans for wind power

Did you know that Denmark got 41% of it’s energy from wind power last year? That’s almost half! And the highest level in Europe. But they’re not content with just that, they want to drop their emissions down even further in the next ten years with carbon neutrality achieved in the next 20. and to that end, they have plans to build artificial islands surrounded by off shore turbines to generate even more power.

There’s no set location for the new farms but space in the Baltic and North seas are both being considered. The new project will be expensive but most of the financing is coming from the private sector.

The hope is that this is just to be one step towards a cleaner climate and that other advances in green energy will be progressed as well over time so that a more total reduction of carbon is possible.
