Peak Meat – we should really start seeing the amount of meat we eat drop

People have been coming down pretty hard on livestock since the world has been catching up on the fact that we need to make changes to avoid a climate catastrophe. Well, the news for herd animals isn’t getting better as scientists begin calling for “peak meat” to be found this decade.

That is to say, we should hit reach the highest amount of meat that we consume and begin dropping that number. This isn’t a call to go vegan and the pressure is focused primarily on wealthier nations rather than nations flat across the board.

Livestock releases emissions and massive amounts of land are cleared to provide food for said livestock destroying forests that would provide carbon sequestration. It’s bad from both ends. By lessening the amount of livestock we can see a decrease in one corner of this issue.
