Olive Jift Project – turning waste into fuel

One of the best things next to eliminating waste that we can do for our environment is find practical and sustainable ways to use that waste in other products. That’s the goal behind the Olive Jift Project that turns the waste from olive oil pressing into fuel pellets.

These pellets are actually more like logs and can be used to heat homes as well as cooking. The group is based in Palestine where wood is still used by many people for these task. However, that’s not great because they don’t have many trees. What they do have is a good deal of waste from olive oil pressing.

This project not only provides an efficient fuel source that will help cut back on reliance on trees, but it also removes waste that is toxic to smaller lifeforms and is troublesome to deal with. Really, it’s a great example of sustainablity.
