Microsoft To Become Carbon Negative – company to remove as much carbon as it has ever created

Microsoft has pledged to remove all carbon that it has put into the environment as a company by the year 2050. Again, all the carbon they have created since 1975. That’s 45 years worth of carbon that they are pledging to pull out of the air plus ending their own current output.

The company has to become “carbon negative” which is to say they remove more carbon than they put out. It would be nice if that meant that they didn’t create carbon at all but given the nature of technology, that’s simply not possible.

The company will use various carbon capture technologies as well as working on reducing their own carbon footprint. They join companies like Amazon and Facebook in pledging to greener practices.
