The UK is getting serious about their zero emissions initiative and has moved up their ban on purchasing new diesel, petrol, or hybrid vehicles from 2040 to 2035 which means people only have 15 more years before it goes into effect.
The reason for this change is to ensure that most or all old style gas cars are off the roads by 2050. With the original date, it was feared that these cars would still be running at that time. Some people believe this is not conservative enough as with only ten years between the ban and the goal, many cars will still be working, especially if they were brought near 2035.
There is also the issue of supply of new vehicles to meet the demands of the country. There is still a lot of work to do before the new edict has a chance of rolling out smoothly.
