If you knit or crochet then you’ve probably heard of the temperature blanket. For every week of the year, you take the average temperature, represented by a color of yarn, and do a row of yarn work. At the end of the year, you’ve got a blanket to show for your efforts. They’re also chronicling climate change.

These projects are a visual representation of how the seasons are changing especially when compared with previous years and with this wealth of data, people are coming together to not only chronicle but protest these changes.

Groups like the Tempestry Project hope to provide a concrete visual to help people see how much the planet is changing. But you don’t need to be professional crafter to do this if you want to get invovled. There are a tons of easy patterns out there so you can make your own and be part of the cozy revolution.
