Food Waste Is A Big Problem – tossing leftovers is contributing to emissions

No one sets out to waste food but we all buy veggies and run out of time to use them or forget leftovers in the fridge just a smidge too long. We need to get a handle on this though because we’re wasting a lot more than we think, about 500 calories daily.

Food waste doesn’t just hurt people because it’s food that could be eaten, but it also contributes to climate change. Food waste is 10% of greenhouse gas emissions which is crazy to think about! It’s not just your tossed leftovers, it’s every ones.

There are some really easy ways to lessen food waste. Meal plan and prep and reducing portion sizes so they can be finished in one sitting instead of just assuming the leftovers will be eaten later. These small changes can go a long way to curbing the problem if we all do them.
