Are Leaves The New Plastic – viral photos show the possibilities

What are we going to do without plastic? How will we survive without single use items? Well, for some where that is already a reality, the answer is leaves. Which is something that was used before single use plastic and is making a return.

These cool, viral photos show places where plastic wrapping has been replaced with banana and other large leaves. Eco friendly and also aesthetically pleasing. A very cool solution to the problem. The leaves can even be folded and fashioned into cups and bowls. Neat!

This isn’t a solution for everywhere. If you don’t live in a tropical environment, chances are you don’t have trees that produce leaves large enough for this. Imagine trying to package fruit in a maple leaf or twenty spruce leaves, stitched together. Still, for the areas that do have these options, this is a very practical solution.
