Best Laundry Settings For The Planet? – make it cold and short

How should you wash your clothes to be most eco friendly? Turns out it’s on cold water in quick cycles. This not only is better for the environment in a bunch of ways but it helps your clothing last longer. And considering most fashion is fast fashion these days, those clothes need all the help they can get.

Microfibers are a huge concern and every load of laundry you do releases a bunch of them. However, if you are washing on cold for shorter cycles, this really cuts down on the amount that are released. Cold water is also better for the environment as it is less energy to produce as well as short cycles, for the same reason.

Wearing high quality clothing of natural fibers also helps but this just isn’t accessible to everyone. But everyone can start using these settings if they don’t already.
