Acoustic Magic – purveyors of Voice Tracker microphones – and One Voice Technologies have announced a product which combines Media Center Communicator voice recognition software with the mic to let you voice control your Media Center PC from anywhere in the room. The idea is that the mic tracks your position in the room and locks on to you as you speak your commands – ‘OneVoice record Channel 10 at 6 pm’. No more standing in front of the TV feverishly pointing and pressing your remote control buttons. It’s $269.95 for the microphone array and $149.95 for the software. Oh and of course a Media PC should be in there somewhere. Couch potato creativity strikes again, and shares in Doritos just shot through the roof.
One Voice Technologies, Inc. has begun marketing the Voice Tracker Array Microphone, which enables voice interaction with One Voice’s Media Center Communicator from ranges of 20 feet or more. According to Dean Weber, president and CEO of One Voice, Inc., “the Voice Tracker’s sensitivity and noise reduction capabilities significantly extend the effective range of voice control. During tests in a 17 ft X 22 ft family room, we were able to control the television, stereo, etc. from any seating position. “ Media Center Communicator users are equally enthusiastic. According to Christopher Addicott, of Chris Addicott Associates Ltd in the UK, “Quite simply this combination is capable of taking the user experience to the next level.”
