Telular Cellular Base Station. Cool tool which provides a cell phone service to any device in a remote location. Stick one on yer RV, yacht or caravan why doncha? Got a feeling this isn’t particularly new, but I haven’t seen many of them around elsewhere.
The Cellular Base Station provides wireless voice, fax, and computer communication to home, office or any remote location where phone service is needed and a cellular communications network is available. Primary telephone service, extra lines and security back-up can be available immediately. Simply plug your standard telephone, fax machine or computer modem into the unit’s jack. This is a stand alone unit with its own internal cellular telephone built in.
Yep, they’ve been around a while, but work like a champ!
I service fax machines and had a customer who has a mobile care
unit (rolling hospital type thing). They go to outline areas and sometimes don’t have access to a phone line. I had them get one of these, they come “unlocked” so you pop in a valid SIM card, and volla! The cellphone company thinks you are on a cell phone as far as they are concerned.
Plug in a fax machine and they can fax their orders via the Telular device just like a regular phone line. Just a minor tweak of the fax to get it to communicate with the cellphone equipment and works like a champ!
Got reliable communications up to 14.4kbs on Cingular & Alltel
So hook this up to a wireless router and you have portable wi-fi? What does it cost?
