MichelinBAAL

The Baal All Terrain Off Road Bike Concept. Finalist in this year’s Michelin Challenge design contest, features hands and feet steering, a 500 ccm ATV engine and a big rubber track instead of sniffy things like wheels. Aren’t concept designs fun?

It is based on a bendable rubber track that guarantees maximum traction as well as freely changeable directions. To make the handling more comfortable and interesting, the vehicle is steered by hands and feet. Being intelligent and ground adopting by construction and material, the system does not need complicated sensor systems or adjustable suspensions. Providing much space for a motor, the frame construction allows the use of several engine concepts like conventional fuel systems or fuel cell systems.

  • OK it looks… well its different just could someone tell which end is the front ?

  • The front end it probably the bit that goes first. :-)

  • faarck – I have just posted a front page story on this and within ten minutes have found it on your site – I know it looks suss but it’s the honest truth. Does this mean we have the same disease?

  • I’ll go with Jester’s question. Could someone tell which end is the front ?

  • Mike, we have the same love of weird lookin’ craft I suspect. Heh!

  • Great design. I believe the front is the end with the small wheel in the air. That way, the bike can overcome and begin a “climb” on medium sized obstacles like rocks or curbs.
