  • While once, long ago the Unimat was the king of model lathes, the modern ones (like above) are no more than toys. Good for turning styrofoam ™ or balsa wood and not much else.

    For a little more you can get a Sherline or a Taig that can turn steel.

    Or you can pay a lot more and get a Prazi (link goes to US rep) that will hold 5 microns (5/1000 of a mm) in steel.
