From the ‘what took them so long?’ dept., the Buffalo Double Click Mouse. Yep, we’re talking a standard USB mouse with an integrated button which double clicks when pressed. We’re thinking, yeah OK, that works.$55.00.

This only works because since version 1 of Windows, people haven’t learned how to use it.
For FREE:
Open My Computer [not mine-yours], click Tools, Folder Options, and in the General Tab, goto the 3rd section-Click items as followsand select Single-click to open an item [point to select].
This “Specifies that you want to open items in folders and on the desktop by single-clicking them, just as you would click a link on a Web page. To select an item without opening it, rest your pointer on it.”
Hell, they can send ME the $55 if they want.
Doing it by software is very different from doing it in hardware.
What about all the other situations where you double click, ie in all other software besides Windows Explorer?
Even in Explorer, what about if you want to select an item without opening it?
Responding in reverse order:

That’s what these are for!
Honestly, you’d rather pay $55?? For a button??? Yeesh!
Hmm…it depends. If you’ve a tendency to RSI, then this could be very useful indeed, notwithstanding the ability to switch to single click in Windows. But Dan has a point – is it $55.00 worth of usefulness? Hmm…not sure. :-)
