FoxyTag – speed camera tagging

Foxytag

FoxyTag. A free offering which lets the driving community tag and mark speed cameras as a collective act of benevolence. You need the Java program, a compatible handset, a GPS unit and the patience to press a button on your phone every time you pass a camera. Is this a good thing…?

FoxyTag does not motivate speeding or any other risky behavior. On the other hand, FoxyTag allows the driver to concentrate on the road instead of having is eyes fixed on the speedometer, for fear of being flashed. We observe that drivers tend to brake suddenly when they see a radar (even if they are not too fast), which can provoke traffic jams or even accidents. FoxyTag signals in advance the presence of speed cameras, so that the driver has sufficiently time to check its speed and adapt it if necessarily.

  • Bullshit!
Not surpassing limits it’s the way to not be flashed.
I do not where you live, but in my region over 70 people die every weekend on the road.
So now, instead on looking on the speedometer you have to look or something on the phone? Sure it will aid. It will brake for you on that glossy curve or next time you pass a cyclist.

  • Hi,
    I don’t agree with Nasete.
The speed camera are to make you slow down for you and other’s security. The fact that you know the position of a camera will make you slow down at the dangerous part of the road.
Both part are happy : security (has you slow down in usefull place) and you (for your wallet).
I use Foxytag everyday, and I must say that it works incredibly well. And really it’s not that hard to press 1 button…
