Radar – cool mobile photo service

Radarmobile

Radar Photo Chat. Regular readers will know that I love the simple ones, which do one innovative thing well, and this is a great example. Radar lets you email images – and video if you must – from your camera phone to a private web portal for your invited friends, family and guests to browse. The cool thing about this free service, however, is the fact that your recipients can also view the image gallery on their handsets, and reply or comment to your posts instantly. Hence the ‘conversation’ aspect. It’s a great idea, well implemented and with a great interface. I can see this being used in lots of innovative ways over time, as soon as the service providers start lowering their absurdly expensive data transmission prices.

Think of Radar as a visual conversation between you and your friends. Instantly post pictures from your cameraphone and they’re available to your invited friends on nearly any mobile phone or PC. They comment, you respond. They post, you comment, you post again. It’s what you’re doing now and what you did last night. It’s whatever’s on your mind. It’s an inside joke or what you had for lunch or the thing with the thing and that guy. It’s you and the people in your life, and it’s why you have a cameraphone.
