Here’s three online storage and data backup offerings which are based on the new Amazon S3 system. In case you’ve not heard of Amazon’s Simple Storage Service, it’s pretty cool, OK? But geeky. And that’s where these clever front ends come in. That’s all, thank you for listening.
- Jungle Disk. Super slick, super cheap storage and backup. Unlimited amount of data for just 15 cents per gigabyte. Enough for you grandma? No monthly fee, fully encrypted and secure.
- Filicious. Not so slick, but still useful. You pay separately for upload, download and storage. 50 cents per GB for upload, 20 cents per GB for storage and 25 cents per Gig for download. 60 MB offered for free for a year.
- S3 Backup. Not a service but a software program which makes use of Amazon’s S3 to upload and store. Mac and Windows versions. In free beta right now (but no scheduling yet!)
