iRecord – one button recording from A/V to iPod

Irecord

The iRecord is a one button recording box which takes any audio/visual input and outputs it to a media player, iPod or other mass storage device for your portable enjoyment. The eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed that no computer is involved in this analogue to digital transaction, just the little white box. Which makes it A Very Useful Thing, we think. £159.99.

iRecord allows you to record your favorite movies or TV shows directly to your iPod, PSP(PlayStation Portable) without the hassle of a computer involved in-between. iRecord is a Personal Media Recorder that records video and audio data onto USB mass storage devices, including the Apple iPod and Sony PlayStation. Hook up your iRecord to a DVD player, VCR, TV, STB or any other analog video source, press iRecord’s record button and your favorite show will record directly to your iPod or PSP. You can now playback the recorded contents on your favorite portable media player with no other steps involved.

  • Its about time something like this came along. It will appeal more when the price drops. Not being an iPod owner, this appeals to me less than, for example, the Sandisk V-Mate Video Memory Card Recorder, which does the same thing with an SD Card for half the price.

  • Hmm..yeah, but isn’t the resolution on those SD card recorders a little poor?

  • 640×480 isn’t great on a big screen but ideal on a PDA. It also has a timer, which the iRecord lacks and, I notice now, only has 320×240 resolution. Not keen on the H.264 video format either.

  • Less expensive and more options:
    $140 – Neuros MPEG4 recorder 2

    – just a satisfied customer. Use output on Treo 650.

And yeah, output is NTSC or PAL (agreed, Red)
Heard V-mate not ready for primetime.

  • iRecord’s official price is $200 (www.irecord.com), and besides iPod and PSP it works with any USB mass storage device like USB HDD and Flash drives. I even used a USB Card reader with irecord. i.e. You can record to CF,SD, or Memory Stick too It works great.
The video quality is also great. H.264 is significantly superior than MPEG4.
