The Webble Foot Rest – under-desk fitness plaything

Webble

The Webble foot rest. Is this a joke? We’re honestly not sure. Kind of a cross between an upturned waste basket and a skateboard. Watch the video to get an idea of usage. Apparently designed to keep you fit and active while deskbound. Um….

Webble2

The Webble will be available in two versions: Webble and Webble AIR. The Webble offers a grippy hardshell surface while the Webble AIR extends the concept further with a flexible mesh membrane that offers the ultimate in comfort and free motion. Both versions ride on ultra smooth casters and a patent-pending spring suspension and self-braking mechanism to keep your office mates from zooming away with your legs’ new best friend.

  • Have you used a Webble yet? I have one under my desk. In addition to propping up my feet (I am short and my chair needs to be higher so I can reach my keyboard tray), it moves. That's what it is supposed to do, move when I move so my blood keeps circulating which prevents blood clots. It's subtle and I don't think about it over the course of the day.

But at the end of the day, my feet actually feel better. I get through the day easier which I believe is due to the increase in energy caused by moving my feet.

Ergonomics is about a lot of things and there is no consensus on "best" products but the one thing ergonomists and health experts do agree on is movement. Sitting all day is very dangerous (google the topic) even if you get regular exercise outside of the office. I'm like many who forget to get up and stretch or take a walk often during the day. Thus this cute little footrest is adding movement to my day that I don't have to think about or make an effort to do.
