North America Telephone Area Code Map – useful visual map of telephone codes

Ustelephonecodes

LincMad’s Telephone Area Code Map of North America is a pretty useful tool to bookmark for reference if you need to call or identify people across the country. The tables are a little more obscure than necessary, but still it’s a nice resource.

This map shows all telephone area codes in use as of 2007-02-22 in the United States and Canada. Area codes that have not yet taken effect are shown with a green line and the area code in parentheses. Some planned area codes that have been cancelled or indefinitely postponed are no longer shown…Detailed maps of some of the metropolitan areas may be added in the future, along with time-zone boundaries. All boundaries shown are approximate.

  • That map is dated 2005. Yikes! Telecom changes too much…

Here is some area code info right from the horse’s mouth – the North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA):

    For Canada:

Got a strange area code popping up on Caller ID and want to know where it is from? Try this…

Lot’s of fun stuff at the NANPA site if you dig around…

  • Ah yes, Todd, but from the blurb on the site it appears to be regularly updated. But thanks for your links too, useful stuff. :-)

  • Maybe the “2005” is for the map itself and not the updated codes. Got some White Out?

Also, my saying the NANPA site is “fun” is due only to the fact I work in telecom. I doubt most people – like my wife – would share my opinion…
