Ad Notifier – free Craigslist advert monitor

Adnotifier

Ad Notifier is a cool little freeware package which monitors Craigslist for adverts which meet your search criteria. Looking for a bargain, flat share or just browsing the personals? Well take the drudge out of the task by letting your PC take the strain while you sit back and pick your toenails. Or something. It’s small, easy to use and can monitor an endless list of classifieds. I’ve started using it to look for all those slightly dodgy unlocked iPhone bargains! [Update: This product is no longer free, instead check out Craigslist Aggregator (CLa) which does the same thing also for free. Enjoy!]

Ad Notifier is totally free software that you can use to monitor Craigslist and alert you about new ads that meet your interests. For example, you can have Ad Notifier tell you about everything that’s listed for free in your area. Or, say you’re looking for a vehicle, job, even a USB cup warmer, you can specify keywords for Ad Notifier to notify you about. You can set the check interval from every 1 to 120 minutes. Ad Notifier just sits silently as a taskbar icon using very little system resources, and when ads are posted on Craigslist.org that match your criteria, a window is displayed with the matching results.

  • Quote: "Ad Notifier is totally free software" — Well how come when you click the link it costs $9.99?

    • Hiya, er…this post is over a year old! What sometimes happens is the author gets publicity from us (and maybe other sites), realises he's got a hot product and starts to charge for it to make a bit of cash back. No fault, no crime. At the time I wrote the post it was free, honest.

  • Worse than that, there's no way to select the category "Free Stuff". It took me 5 minutes just to find Orange County, CA. This software program requires a complete redesign from the bottom up – by a different thinking author.

  • The post still shows up in Google searches.

Why not update your post to reflect the change in the software? That way, your own credibility doesn't suffer when people stumble in only to find they haven't been misled, intentionally or otherwise.

    • Mark, there's 12000 posts on the Ferret stretching back 9 years. If I spent all my time going through them to update I'd never sleep. Or laugh. Or eat. Or shout at daffodils. Your comments do the job nicely though, so thanks.
