alaTest – mega product review portal does nice work

Alatest

alaTest is an international product comparison portal which offers up a great mix of product reviews from experts and users, as well as price alternatives and a user comments panel. We first stumbled across this service a while back, but didn’t blog it because the content wasn’t there, but my how it’s come on. It now features over a million product reviews culled from more than 700 international sources, which makes it an excellent resource for shoppers in a hurry.

The interface is very Web 2.0 clean, and although the English language version is still building, the comments on the foreign versions show that the community aspect of the site really seems to be taking off. It’s a little slow to use sometimes, but that may just reflect the beta badge. Definitely worth a bookmark!

Today’s vast array of products can be overwhelming. Questions such as what product, what brand, what version and for what price are not longer easy to answer. Therefore, alaTEST wants to help by providing unbiased product quality information. We do not test any product ourselves; instead, we have developed one of the fastest growing databases in the world with professional tests. This database is continuously updated with new tests and reviews that are matched with product specifications and prices provided by our network partners – all with the purpose of informing consumers un a simple, effective and objective way.

  • this is old news http://www.viewscore.com are doing it much better ….

  • Hmm…I disagree. Worse UI (more cluttered and more clicks to get to information) and US only. Viewscore looks quite inferior actually.

  • Thank you Red for your kind words. Our growing team of 15 people from Sweden, Holland, UK, China, Georgia, Germany and Austria is doing our best to make the site useful.

Funny that every time there is an article about alaTEST on the net(which unfortunately does not happen that often actually), some anonymous person always puts up a link to viewscore… which is a similar service to alaTEST based in Israel, with content in English. Perhaps tomi has some involvement with our Israeli friends?

I think viewscore is a nice site and leave it up to the consumers to decide which service is best (content, presentation, calculation method of overall score, etc.).

The site is further developed and this month and next month new functionality and design will be rolled out.

Greetings from Stockholm, Arie (founder alaTEST)
