Qik – stream videos direct from your mobile phone to the web

Qik

Qik. Fascinating new service which lets you stream video directly from your mobile phone to the Web. You download a small software applet onto your handset and from then on you’re a one-person, roaming live camcorder, and better still all streams are recorded to your own personal archive on the site. Neat concept and an inevitable result of the improvement in mobile data bandwidth. Currently very much in private beta, and only supports a small set of Nokia phones. Oh and you’ll need a flat rate or very cheap unlimited data plan, because this baby is going to *slurp up* your mobile bandwidth. Definitely one to watch, as it could be the first cell phone YouTube.

With Qik you can stream engaging video live from your phone to the world or use your phone like a camcorder to capture entertaining, interesting and special moments. Go LIVE with your life by streaming anytime, anywhere — right from your phone. Be an eyewitness, capture those first steps, or whip up your own streaming video blog. There are just a million and one uses of qik. Do you have a favorite use of qik? If so let us know.
