FlickrBackup – download your online photos for safekeeping

Flickrbackup

FlickrBackup. An open source Java application which gives you the power to download your Flickr photos to your hard disk on demand. Why? Well perhaps for backup or security reasons. Maybe you want to make a DVD of your images or project them on your kitchen table. Whatever. Because it’s Java it will run on any computer, although you do have to wait for a download of some code. Neat app.

FlickrBackup is a utility that allows you to download the pictures you have uploaded to Flickr back down to your computer for personal backup or restore.

  • Yah, now I can actually use Flickr the way I want to, I have been waiting for something like this to come along!

  • But will it allow you to ‘synchronize’ the files on your hard drive to upload to Flickr? Now that would be cool. Keep a folder on your HD named Flickr, add to it, synch it so that the filenames only on your HD upload and filenames missing from your HD folder will download!

  • Ooh Reboots, now that *is* a cool idea. :-)

  • That would be good as a kind of offline storage type area for sync when you log on to Flickr, I would like that too!
