The icecaps are melting and this isn’t good for the planet over all but some scientists think we can help slow down this melting by spreading small glass balls over the ice. This will reflect the heat and encourage more ice growth, in theory.
The Arctic ice helps to keep the ocean and air cool in the area. The more that melts, the less cool it will be, the faster the remaining ice will will melt. To slow this process, a tin layer of glass balls would be spread out over the ice making it more reflective.
This would help the area stay cooler so more ice can form making it even cooler over time. The glass would act as a sort of prosthetic ice cover until the planet can fend for itself. The only problem is, it’s not just the sun that’s an issue, the oceans are warmer as well and as of yet, there’s no solution for that.
