Robots probably don’t have a lot to fear when it comes to climate change. I think that was a plot point in the Matrix. Anyway, that doesn’t mean they can’t help us fight it today. Innovative use of AI may prove to be key in helping humanity push back against the climate crisis.

AI can be used in three key ways to help us understand climate change and plan accordingly. The first is in making better climate predictions. AI is able to look at the data and give us a more accurate prediction than we can get on our own. It can also show us what climate damage will look like prompting more support from laypeople. The final way is actually tracking where carbon is coming from so that the sources can be targeted.

None of these systems are perfect yet. Every one of them still needs to be worked on more in order for them to be strong, viable options. Still, in the future they will help us navigate this growing issue.
