AI Photos – computers don’t know what cats look like

Machines don’t see things the way that we see things. They don’t really see things at all but they we still want them to draw. When we ask machines to make images for us, they come up with some very strange things. Rendered wonderfully but just a little bit. . . off. Check out these images to see machine dreams.

These images were created by computers based on what they knew of the subject matter through algorithms. Although they look, mostly, like photographs, none of these are real. Or at least we hope they’re not real because that really puts a whole new spin on things. The places where the machines fail have to do with what they don’t know, namely things like counting or functionality.

They do a fair job on some and a not so great job on others. The dogs, for instance, look really close but their attempts at humans are nightmares. Anyway, the photos are an interesting peek into how some machines may see the world. Check out the images.
