Air Pollution Causes Death Across State Lines – newsflash, emissions travel

Air pollution from one state can cause health issues in neighboring states but it doesn’t stop there. Air pollution can travel over 1000 miles away to make people sick depending on the type of emissions. This is why it’s important to tackle emissions at a national if not global level.

Scientists have known for quite some time pollution travels. This isn’t exactly new information but with the renewed focus on emissions and the damage they do to the planet, it is worth knowing how much out of state pollution accounts for health crises. The answer is, quite a bit. And it’s not just a spike in asthma, these out of state pollutants are at the bottom of deaths.

Emissions from electricity production are a key cause which is just one more reason to move to renewable sources for everyone. The emissions issue isn’t just about warming temperatures, there is also a human cost to them as well.
