Amazon Dash Button – shopping at the push of a button

amazon dash button

Amazon is all about making our lives easier. If you order household things from them, they’ve got a handy gadget to make reordering things a snap. The Amazon Dash Button is your answer to never worrying about your shopping again.

This is only available to Prime members, the yearly service that offers free two day shipping and a host of other benefits but is mostly important for free two day shipping. The way the button works is you stick it near where you store the item. When you run out, instead of making a mental note to order later, you just press the button. Just like that, your order is taken care of.

There are a legion of buttons that you can choose from including laundry detergent, diapers and beverages. It sends alerts to your phone so you can easily cancel things if you decide you don’t need those paper towels. Or in the more likely event that someone else in your house orders them after you’ve already done so. The Amazon Dash Buttons are $4.99 each.

  • Dash button appears to know of four beverages. Count them – four! If I install this thing it’s going to steer me towards a very limited range of choices – and it doesn’t (so far) have my favorite coffee or my favorite soft drink. If it did, I might consider it, but I don’t think I should have to pay for something which is designed to increase Amazon’s market share.

    • Oh come on David, Amazon *needs* your money. :)

    • That was my caveat with it as well. If I order this thing from you all the time, shouldn’t you give me this button for free? Or at least a discount on my first purchase.

If anyone from Amazon is listening. . .
