Amic Email Backup – backup your precious email automatically and for free

Amicemailbackup

Amic Email Backup. Freeware program backs up your email messages, address book, settings, rules and signatures on demand. It copes with the top 9 email clients like Outlook Express, Eudora and IncrediMail, but unfortunately not Thunderbird which is a shame. Anyway, still worth a look see.

Amic Email Backup is a handy software tool for Microsoft Windows based PCs designed to create backup copy of your email database. Amic Email Backup can save emails, address book, settings, mail and news accounts, message rules, blocked senders lists and signatures to a single, compact, compressed backup file that can be easily restored when necessary.

fyi… there’s a very clear page on how to backup and restore Thunderbird at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup going over simple procedures for backing up or moving this email client’s profile directory. The instructions appear to allow for simple script-friendly (batch, autohotkey, autoit, etc) solutions.

The move procedure is interesting as it allows you to place your settings/data anywhere (including a portable drive) instead of relying on the default location.

The instructions included apply to Firefox and Seamonkey too.

There’s also MozBackup, a windows-based gui program, that performs the backup work for you at: http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/

    MozBackup supports Firefox (1.0 – 3.0 Alpha 6), Thunderbird (1.0 – 2.0), SeaMonkey (1.0a – 1.1), Mozilla Suite (1.7 – 1.7.x) and Netscape (7.x).
