AOC U32U1 Porsche Design 4K Monitor Review

The AOC U32U1 is a great 4K-monitor for browsing, mailing and editing pictures or videos. I’ve used this monitor during the pandemic to work from home.

Design

The AOC U32U1 got the Reddot Award in 2019 for nice design. AOC partnered up with Porsche to make a beautiful looking 4K monitor, with a minimalist design.

Functionality

I mainly compared the AOC U32U1 with a dual monitor setup. At work I have two full HD screens – regular sized – and at home I have this one. It took some time to get used to, but once you find a good balance on where you place your windows, it works as well as a dual screen setup.

We also got a question if this is able to mount to a wall with a VESA-mount. You can push the back plate up, which will reveal four inputs for screws. If you screw off the stand, you can screw it a VESA-mount and mount it to your wall.

On the back, you have multiple inputs. HMDI, USB-C and even USB-inputs for external hard drives. I connect my Macbook Pro via one single USB-C cable and everything works well. I can then connect an external hard drive to the monitor and it will appear on my desktop.

There are also speakers built in, but these don’t sound that good.

Screen quality

The monitor is 31.5 inch in size and packs a 4K UHD IPS display. In my opinion, all 4K’s look pretty similar, so I won’t be going to deep into this subject. I use this monitor for editing pictures and videos and I get a clear and crisp high quality image when doing so.

Should you buy it?

The AOC U32U1 comes in at around 900$, which is not cheap. However, it looks aesthetically pleasing and is a real eyecatcher. It has all the ports and functionalities you need for working at home or editing, so if you have the money to spare, this is a great option for you!
