Apis Cor – this 3D printed house only took a day to make

Love tiny homes and 3D Printing? Well good news, you can combine both and have a home built in a day that you can actually live in. Apis Cor shows us how it’s done with their Russian 3D printed home.

This house was made from concrete and has a unique circular design. The shape was chosen to show off how versatile the process is but if you were interested, you could have a normal square house to. In case you wanted to be boring. The machine used is a sort of all in one printing solution for, well, homes and other buildings.

The interesting thing about this house is that it was completely printed from the ground up instead of made with preprinted panels and took about a day for the initial structure. It was built in very cold weather with no issues showing that this process is suitable for a variety of climates. Although the finishing was done with human hands, it still was very low cost at just over $10K. You can read more details about the process on the website.

  • They printed 38m2 which is about 400 square feet, or, about the size of some apartments. If it took 24 hours, then for a somewhat traditional house of say 1500 square feet or more it would take 3-4 days.
It is a VERY interesting idea that really could cut the labor cost in building a house, especially if they find a way to print a larger area.

    • Even if you can’t print that large of an area, you could print (build) separate units and attach them. One room at a time! This would totally save on labor costs. I just imagine that a lot of people may be reluctant due to the “look” of the homes. Although, I liked the little test run.

400 sq ft is one of the mid to larger tiny houses which are all the rage right now.
