There are times when you need to download and install an Android app quickly, without having to go through the hassle of signing in to a Google account. When? Well for instance if you’re trying out a different phone, you live in a country which doesn’t have full access to Play or you need to temporarily revert back to an old handset for testing or in an emergency.
Of course the safest way to install apps is always to go through the safe, controlled environment of an app store, but there are times when it’s just not feasible. AppsApk is an Android freeware app store which offers direct downloads of the .apk files, so all you have to do is download and then copy them across to your phone. But do take precautions first (see below).
Once you have the file on your phone, navigate to it using the file manager on your phone and click on the name. It will then install on the phone. The **important** thing we stress is you should only install an .apk on your handset after you have made sure it is totally safe, i.e. without viruses or trojans etc. You can do this quickly by uploading the .apk to www.virustotal.com to check it out after you have downloaded it from the appsapk site.
All of the apps on the site are freeware (or free trial or ad sponsored) and the site owners say that all files are virus tested before listing, but we still suggest you stay safe by doing your own test. Worth a bookmark for an emergency.
