Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator – probably the awesomest geekiest computer game ever

Artemis

Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator is a multi-player networked spaceship game which has got to be the nerdiest game in existence. Download and install onto multiple laptops, grab your buddies and make like Kirk and the crew on the SS Enterprise roaming around space, breaking prime directives right left and centre.

There’s a free demo, and you can upgrade to the full version for free by submitting a 1 min YouTube video of your team playing the game for all to see. With a bit more money behind it, and a bit of spit and polish this could be one HUGE game. Awesome. [Via]

Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. One computer runs the simulation and the “main screen”, while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do, like Helm, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control. Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room (“bridge”) , and while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn’t have a workstation, and tells everyone what to do.

  • I agree There use to be a game on commoder 64 that had a game similar and i enjoyed the interaction I think that they should have a one player game too

    • Yes definitely. I remember a game on the PC which was also amazingly good fun. A single player version would be great.
