AT&T and Verizon waiving charges for calls to Japan

The earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan were more than devastating, killing countless people and tearing up the homes of many. There are a lot of us that have family and friends over there, and to make a call to make sure theyre alright can be a detrimental amount. AT&T and Verizon have decided to be nice and give free calls to Japan through April for those of us who are worried sick about friends and family on the other side of the world.

AT&T is giving free call and text capability until March 31st, while Verizon will extend the same offer until April 10th. Verizon landline owners can get the deal as well but AT&T landline users will have to seek out credit to make the call. If the fees wind up on your bill regardless of this statement, bring your bill in to your Verizon or AT&T store, and make sure the charges are removed.

No AT&T, I’m still not happy with you about the DSL bandwidth caps, but kudos to you for stepping up when people need to contact loved ones that could be in trouble.
