AT&T offers free 3G Microcells to customers with poor home reception

If you’re an AT&T customer, you might be considering switching over to Verizon, after hearing about the iPhone being available on the other carrier. If your main reason for wanting to switch is poor reception at home, you might be in luck. It seems that AT&T is offering up free MicroCell 3G devices to customers who are particularly upset with their reception, likely to keep them from switching networks.

They’ve started sending out letters via snail-mail to customers who have complained of poor service in the past. These letters offer them free MicroCell 3G devices, so long as they commit to having their wireless phone service for the next 12 months. How do you get in on this? If you have poor service, make sure you let the company know. The more vigilant you are about it, the more likely they are to appeal to your demands. I’d advise only making the complaints if you are actually having poor reception at home. Otherwise, you might end up with a device that does you little good, while someone else with poor service doesn’t get one.
