Driving can be a scary thing for some people. Tunnel vision, the threat of falling asleep, and the annoying people who just can�t seem to pay attention and think it�s still alright to drive a piece of machinery that weighs a ton. Every time you get into a vehicle, you risk your life because you have no idea what other drivers are doing, if they could be under the influence or what have you.

Iteris is making the roads a little bit safer with their AutoVue Lane Departure Warning System. It comes with a camera, and on board computer with image recognition software that will see if you or a nearby driver starts to go off-course. If you start to go out of the lane unexpectedly, or someone comes into yours, the unit will put out a sound similar to a rumble strip on the shoulders of the road. This should be loud enough to get things back on track, which is a big relief for those of us who are worried about reckless driving, or drivers.

Currently it is available as an optional piece of equipment on select Infinity vehicles, but you should be able to purchase it as an aftermarket device in the future.
