Forget about high technology satellite systems, the Skylinc folks are betting that they can provide nationwide broadband Internet coverage using just some balloons and a piece of string. Well OK, so maybe a little more tech than that.

The Libra (Low Cost Integrated Broadband Radio Access) system works by feeding signals from fibre optic up to balloons tethered 1.5km above the ground. ‘Each unit has a coverage equivalent to 2,000 traditional wireless base stations.’
