Balloons are so lovely. Just lots of fun, they really brighten things up! But maybe it’s time to retire them because they’re killing seabirds. Balloons float away and end up in and near waterways where birds eat them and then die. It’s not a good thing. Maybe try some of these alternatives for your next party.

Paper Lanterns! These stylish globes can be hung up around a party for a splash of color and fun. Some can even be made to float if you really must have that effect. But if you’re just decorating between streamers, paper is a far more eco friendly choice, bonus if it’s made from recycled materials.

Non-plastic confetti and glitter! If you have to throw something for a colorful effect, these are there for you. Pretty and although a terror to clean up, will give your special event that fun splash. It is very important that they are NOT PLASTIC.

Bubbles! Just good old fashioned bubbles. Give everyone a bottle and watch the magic happen. There are also machines that will put out a ton of them.
