Beacon turns your smartphone into a universal remote

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s losing or breaking the remote to my TV. Not just because I’m too lazy to walk over to the TV and change the channels by hand, but also because I hate dealing with universal remotes. Every time I’ve used one, I’ve tried those 3-digit numbers in the manual for my TV manufacturer, but it never works. Instead, I’m forced to do the manual method, which involves pressing the power button roughly 758 times. Well if you own an smartphone, you won’t have to worry about doing this ever again. Just pick up a Dijit Beacon.

The Beacon is a simple IR transmitter that will send signals to your TV, DVD player, or other such device. The commands come from your Android or iOS device. Just download the app to your phone, and pair the gadget via Bluetooth. Select your device from the comprehensive, and ever-growing library, and in seconds you’ll be changing channels, controlling the volume and pausing movies. For just $70, your one phone can control virtually everything in your living room.
