Best Buy to launch ‘Buy Back’ program for your used electronics

Don’t you hate how technology is outdated by the time you get it home and open the box? It seems like only a short time later there is a new model out with features you could only dream of. Well according to some leaked documents, Best Buy is looking to cash in on this trend.

Being purported as protection against obsolescence, Best Buy’s new Buy Back program will let you bring in your TV, Laptop, or mobile phone, and they will give you back a percentage of your purchase price. This of course comes in the form of a Best Buy gift card. It looks like the most you’ll ever get for your old hardware is 50% of the original price, and that’s if you bring it back within 6 months.

I really can’t imagine taking my TV back to get less than half of my money back. For the amount they’d give me by the time I’d want to upgrade again, it would be smarter just to keep it for a spare, or sell it on Craigslist. Would any of you use this service if implemented?
