Big Butterfly Count – help track this year’s butterfly migration

Science needs help again. This time in counting butterflies. Which is about as whimsical and lovely as one can get to be honest. A giant migration of butterflies has caused scientists to ask the public for help in counting millions of them in the UK. You can join the Big Butterfly Count and help out!

You can participate with use of an app or on the website. It’s really easy to join the fun, just hang out somewhere sunny for at least 15 minutes and count what you see. Parks, your own garden, out in the woods, your neighbor’s garden if they’ll let you, wherever. You can do it on your lunch break.

Not only does this help out butterfly conservation, it’s also an excuse to spend time outdoors breathing the fresh air and enjoying nature which is good for you! The count is on until the end of August so go out and contribute!
