Biofuel for Flights – airlines investigate alternative fuel sources

Flying less is one way people really focus on cutting carbon emissions but what if in the future, you didn’t have to cut out your air travel? If the plane runs on biofuel, you may not have to. This experimental idea is one of the ways that the aviation industry is looking to combat emissions.

Despite all the hubbub, airlines account for a smaller slice of the emissions pie but doesn’t mean that work doesn’t need to be done. Biofuels are a sustainable alternative to traditional fuel options and are crated from various plat and seed waste products.

We’ve seen biofuel in other areas and it is a promising prospects but the process would need to be scaled way up in order to meet the demand of airlines. Even so, there has been some small success with it, on short flights.
