Books In My Phone. A nice selection of e-books embedded in a Java reader for download to your mobile phone, either directly over the air or via your computer. All out of copyright or Creative Commons of course, so no commercial ‘blockbusters’, but it’s a neat idea nonetheless. As someone who read both Lord of the Rings (for the 3rd time) and Harry Potter on a mobile phone, I can vouch that it’s possible.
The books offered here are either licensed under Creative Commons or out of copyright in the USA and many other countries including Australia, Canada, and the UK. Most of the books are out of copyright world wide, please check the copyright laws that may apply to your country prior to download. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are not breaching the copyright laws that may apply to you.
This isn’t just a possibility for out-of-copyright books. One UK author has been offering his latest book as a mobile download for commerical purposes.

There’s also manybooks.net, which provides a similar service. They don’t use a java reader, so I suspect compatiblity is broader.
