Unless you live in the pleasant town of Mayberry, a bike lock is almost always a good idea to have. There are plenty of locks to choose from, however, they all seem to have one thing in common. Most of them look rather ugly when they aren’t in use. Usually they just sort of hang from your seat, haphazardly wrapped up and waiting to be looped around a lamp post. If you’re really concerned about looks (and don’t often carry a water bottle around), you might check out this Bottle Lock.

This particular lock is interesting because it is housed in what appears to be a water bottle. This allows for it to be easily carried in your regular water bottle holder. Unfortunately that is also the big downside to the product. The 5′ cable stays coiled up when not in use, then comes out and locks right back into itself. It even has a small storage area in the bottom of the housing, in case you need somewhere to stick your keys or cash. For $34, I’d say this is a pretty good bike accessory. No word on exactly when we should see this on store shelves though.
