Bottled Water Isn’t Necessary – court blocks company in move to privatize water

In case you didn’t know, in areas where there is available tap water, bottling water for sale is not an essential public service. You probably already assumed that but that didn’t keep Nestle from trying to be listed as one in their ongoing attempts to privatize water all over the United States.

Bottled water is not great for the planet. Not just the actual bottle, which is plastic so that’s a problem, but also the process of bottling water. Companies remove the water from one area, store and ship it to other areas, removing it from it’s source and ensuring it does not come back into that environment. Sure, it will make it’s way back into the water cycle, just not in the are it was drawn from.

In places where water is not available freely, bottle water is a necessary thing but companies like Nestle are trying to make a profit at the determent to the planet and everyone on it.
