
A new law in California makes it possible for diners to bring their own take out containers to eateries and although this sounds great, it turns out letting people use their own Tupperware is quite a hassle. Still, this could cut down on one, very specific type of waste overall.
Imagine loading your leftovers into the container you brought from home. For one, it’s probably more sturdy than the floppy Styrofoam box you’re likely to get at most places. So bonus for not having to worry about your food spilling all over the place, especially if you’ve got more stops to make after you eat.
There seems to be some concerns with cross contamination which may make taking this route harder more trouble than it’s worth if the staff is responsible for packing the left overs up. But is it really so hard to scrape your own plate into your own container?
